Denon’s Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 and dynamic volume and EQ creates a theater-quality sound environment.
What is Good About the Denon 4500H
The first thing you notice when using this AV receiver is the incredibly lifelike and realistic audio. Voices sound clear, as though they are spoken in the room with you. You realize immediately how much of the dynamic drama you lose from the soundtrack without this receiver. It’s plenty powerful enough, particularly in the price range, but the quality of the audio is on another level.
The receiver does a good job of running 4K video at 60 FPS without excessive stutter or glitching in most cases. More than anything, this receiver is an ideal central control unit for video game devices, projector systems, or a turntable. It has a broad range of versatile connections, including eight USB inputs.
This is a great option for those who are looking to step up from a soundbar or television speakers to a proper home theater experience, and it’ll also make someone who is replacing an older model very happy. The Denon 4500H is a great entry-level AV receiver that packs plenty of power and control options.
What’s Not So Good
Most people who have this AV receiver in their home theater have little trouble. Many of the most common problems with this receiver have been corrected through firmware updates. The most common issues that people had include Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity problems, a clunky HEOS interface, and some issues with audio and video distortion.
It’s hard to find much that’s not to like about this high-quality AV receiver. While newer technology looms with the introduction of the new Denon AVR-X4700H model that fully supports HDMI 2.1, this unit exceeds most expectations. For our more in-depth review of this projector click here.

This receiver offers the latest in audio and video playback but lacks a few features newer models include. This unit was introduced in 2018, and so predates HDMI 2.1. It does have some features such as eARC, but full integration is included in the succeeding model. Another feature it lacks is Dolby Atmos Height Visualization. In most home theaters, this feature is of debatable value, but if you have high ceilings, you might miss this feature.
In all, this is a solid AV receiver that has great features and will provide all the power you need. It’s plenty versatile and offers tons of configuration options to match your home theater. The lack of some modern features may be important to some buyers, others may not notice the lack.
