Ultra 8K

If you are the kind of person who values picture clarity, then you are going to love ultra 8K resolution. The dedicated 8K HDMI video port supports various video formats, including HDR, and there are 7 HDMI ports in total with a dedicated one for your 8K. That allows 60Hz passthrough and upscaling at 8K (120Hz at 4K).

All of the HDMI inputs will also give you 4:4:4 pure color subsampling, HDR10 & HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), Dynamic HDR, 3D, and BT. The exceptional passthrough on each of the HDMI channels means brilliant color, contrast, and clarity, as long as you have the devices to support it.

Amazing picture clarity is going to elevate your gaming, but how does this receiver hold up to streaming and data dumps? Very well, as it turns out, thanks to its fast, powerful processing and gamer-friendly features.

The variable refresh rate (VRR), quick frame transport (QFT), and auto low-latency mode (AALM) all do well to keep the streaming lag- and glitch-free, removing any frame tear and letting you enjoy your favorite FPSs and RPGs.

The only thing to watch out for is that the device does not support pass-through from all 4K/120Hz media sources, so double check before you buy the receiver.

  • Ultra 8K
  • HDM10 & HDM10+
  • 7 HMDI inputs & 3 outputs
  • Lag-free gaming
  • 3D sound support

  • Does not support all 4K/120Hz sources
  • Cheap remote
  • App is lacking

There are 7 channels for all of your audio needs, and that gives you high-power amplification on all channels along with full 3D support.

You have 95W per channel for powerful audio, and there is a lot of clarity between the highs and lows. The 3D audio pairs all with Dolby Atmos, Dolby Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X, and IMAX enhanced. You can set up the system as 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 with surround sound. With the Dolby elevation, you can also channel your audio through overhead speakers for an ultimate home theater system.

There are many audio options, and the DTS Neutral:X adds an all-round option that gives a traditional surround sound for movies, games, and music. Click here for comparison versus Marantz Nr1711.

What Are Customers Saying?

Denon AVR-X2700H connections

While the reviews are mostly positive, some problems can crop up. The remote is the main problem. For a high-quality unit, the remote seems cheap in comparison. The remote does get the job done and will last if treated right, but it is made from cheaper plastic and feels like it could fall apart at any time.

You can also run into problems if you’re controlling the Denon AVR_X2700H through the associated app. The device is great, but controlling it from a distance can be frustrating.

What people do love is the sound and picture quality and the fact that it has been designed to be future-proof with 8K and HDR10+ support.

The Verdict: Denon AVR-X2700H review

If you can get past the app and the remote, then this is a mid-range device that is worth owning. There are enough connections for all of your devices, you can stream high-quality 8K video, the surround sound will enhance your home theater room, and the gaming is almost entirely lag-free.

The device is designed to be future-proof, which means added functionality and connections, but that does not come at a higher cost. The Denon AVR-X2700H receiver is easy to set up and use; just be gentle with the remote. (>>> Check current price on Bhphotovideo)
